Olu Block Foundation Empowers Less-Priviledges, Celebrates Family Icon

By OLALEKAN AYENI --- Uncountable numbers of less-priviledges comprises of physically challenged people, widows, widowers and aged people on Saturday, July 10, 2021, benefitted from empowement programme of Olu Block Foundation in Ota, Ogun State.

The laudable event was part of activities to officially launched the non-governmental organisation with the vision of restoring hope to the less privileged and vulnerable individuals, through provision of social amenities, empowerment programmes and financial assistance to the needies.

The two-one event was also serve as remembrance of Evangelist Festus Fayomi, who started the humanitarian services before passing on, ten years ago. Uncountable numbers of widows, widowers, aged people and physically challenged individuals and societies were given packages of food items, drugs and huge sums of money.

The humanitarian service provider NGO had engaged in providing entrepreneurial training, start-up capital for indigent single mothers, widows, widowers and physically challenged people within Ota and its environ on every 17th of every months and it has been in existence over a decade.

Speaking at the event, the Foundation Chairman, Otunba Ibrahim Fayomi, said: "Olu Block Foundation came as a legacy left behind by our father, Evangelist Festus Fayomi, who during his lifetime was supportive of the indigent members of his community to the extent that after his demise some were still coming around for the purpose of getting his usual relief packages.

"I was therefore motivated to reactivate the programme with proper coordination and requisite legal framework. Today to the glory of God, the work has not only continued, but has assumed a higher dimension." Fayomi added.

The Majority Leader in Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Yusuf aka Ibema who represented Senator Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi, as the chief launcher, commended the foundation for its welfare support to scores of people in the society, noting that such should be emulated, especially by those in government to make our society a better place to live in.

He said: "I learned the supports given by the foundation is done on a monthly basis, I'm motivated to make my own contributions to such a noble cause for the good of the needy in our midst." 

HRH Yaya Kelani, Onimupin of Mupin, Ota, said, ”This is a godly initiative that is already impacting the lives of the needy in our midst, with this step taken to formally launch the foundation, it is obvious that more indigent people will find comfort and help through the foundation."

Madam Felicia Omolade, 80 years old who was one of the beneficiaries, said the foundation had been her source of comfort in the last few years, because of the various assistance she's been receiving from it. 

Several other beneficiaries also gave accounts of how the foundation has greatly impacted them, providing them with the needed help at the most critical times.
