BREAKING: Fire outbreak on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Motorists urged to take alternative routes

By OLALEKAN AYENI --- The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has urged motorists planning to travel through Lagos-Ibadan expressway to take another route as there is presently a case of fire outbreak along the proposed new Kara Market inbound Ibadan.




The incident, according to TRACE PRO, Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi occourred around 0400hrs, when a fully loaded trailer fell on the road and in the ensuing gridlock caused by the incident, a tanker laden with fuel, in the hold up suddenly burst into flames affecting seven other  trucks and two cars.

He said while rescue operations continues with the combined efforts of TRACE, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Police NSCDC and the Fire Service, motorists are advised to ply the alternative routes below:

"Vehicles moving inbound Lagos should go through Saapade-Ode/Remo-Iperu-Sagamu to relink Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
In addition, vehicles moving inbound Ibadan should also go through Sagamu-Iperu-Ode/Remo-Saapade to relink Lagos-Ibadan expressway."

Commander Akinbiyi implored drivers to please maintain lane disciple, so as not worsen the traffic situation, any nconveniences is highly regretted, he added.
