Robbery Suspects, Fake Policeman Arrested In Lagos with Arms

The Operatives of Lagos State Police Command attached to Itire Division on Thursday, 22nd April, 2021, at about 9.40pm, arrested a 24 years old Samuel Ayooluwa, of No 54, Olatilewa Street by Lawanson, Surulere, Lagos State for robbery.

The Command spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said, police operatives on their routine patrol around Surulere had responded to a distress call from one of the shop owners at the above address that three (3) armed men on motorcycle attacked the customers in the shop and dispossessed them of their belongings.

“The police, who raced to the scene, gave the suspected armed men a hot chase and eventually arrested one of them, Samuel, while the other two (2) escaped.

“Items recovered from him include two (2) locally-made pistol three (3) live cartridges, three (3) expended cartridges and two (2) mobile phones”, he said.

Similarly, the police operatives attached to Orile Division of the command today, Friday, 23rd April, 2021, at 9am, accosted and arrested a 39 years old, Udu Augustine, of No 15, Ishola Street, Magogo, Yaba-Lagos, at Orile Bus Stop and the suspect introduced himself as a police officer to them.

The operatives, according to the PPRO Adejobi said the police officers were full of suspicion after some questions put onto him, which he could not provide satisfactory answers, Hence, he was arrested in a possession of a police warrant card.

“After the arrest, he was taken to his house, at the above address, where one police camouflage T-shirt, one face cap and some police accoutrements were recovered from him”, Adejobi said.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Command’s Special Squad for thorough investigation and possible apprehension of the fleeing suspects.

The police boss, CSP Adejobi said has directed all the Divisional Police Officers across the state to be on the lookout for the impersonators who are on the prowl and arrest them, as their activities is denting the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
