Akwa Ibom NSCDC Arrests Truckload Of Adulterated AGO Concealed With Youghurt Drink

The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday, April 23, arrested a truckload of YOUGHURT drink with adulterated AGO(Diesel) hidden underneath and in between the drinks.

While parading the truck and suspects before newsmen at the NSCDC Exhibit Yard in Uyo, Commandant S.A Fadeyi Esq, stated that 'the truck was loaded in Ahoada in Rivers State, and had evaded several security check points. Luck however ran out on the criminals when vigilant NSCDC operatives stationed at the Calabar/Itu highway decided to conduct a routine inspection of the truck after flagging it'. He stated further that 'during the routine check, my men discovered wet sack bags, containing AGOs stored in cellophene bags. The AGOs were clandestinely covered by hundreds of packs of youghurt drinks'.

Two suspects; Aliyu Mohammadu, 'M' 27, and Sani Mohammadu, 'M', 25, according to a statement by the DSC Umana Ukeme ANIPR, CDPRO, Akwa Ibom State Command, were arrested and paraded before newsmen. Both suspects will be charged to court immediately.

On the hundreds of cartons of youghurt drinks arrested, the NSCDC boss  disclosed that the drinks would be destroyed once the case is concluded, as the drinks have been contaminated by the adulterated Diesel.

Comdt Fadeyi while warning criminals to refrain from sabotaging the economy through illegal bunkering of adulterated petroleum products, called on citizens to be wary of new antics deviced by criminals in perpetrating crimes and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
