SMUGGLING: Customs Intercepts, Seizes Goods Worth Over N66m In Two Weeks In Kaduna

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone B, Kaduna in continuation of its fight against smuggling has intercepted and arrested goods worth N66,133,892.00 in various locations within the Zone.

The Unit Comptroller A. B. Hamisu, who disclosed this while briefing pressmen in Kaduna today 3rd March, 2021 called on the public to endeavor to always volunteer useful information on smuggling activities to the Unit for the betterment of the nation.
Notable among the seizures are, 180 pieces of assorted Jack knives intercepted in the Tsafe Area of Zamfara state, 13 vehicles and 592 bags of foreign parboiled rice.


The 51 seizures, according to the Comptroller were made between 16 February and 1st March, 2021 at various locations of the Zone and it include 227 kegs of vegetable oil, 55 gallons of 25kg PMS, 49 gallons of 25kg AGO, 38 bales and 67 sacks of Secondhand clothing.
“There are however more seizures domicile at various locations within the Zone that could not be transferred to FOU Zone B headquarters due to distance and logistics”, he said.



The Federal Operations Unit Zone B, according to ASC1 MA Magaji Public Relations Officer of the zone, has a jurisdiction covering 10 states of the federation that includes all the 7 north western state, some parts of North central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
