INSECURITY: South-West Governors, Traditional Rulers, Others Meet In Ibadan

The South-West governors and some first class traditional rulers in the zone have met in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, to address the security challenges in the region and other parts of the country.

The meeting which started at about 3 p.m on Saturday held at the executive chamber, office of the governor, state secretariat, Agodi, in Ibadan.

In attendance were Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Mr. Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Mr. Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and the host governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

Among the traditional rulers at the meeting were the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Babatunde Ajayi; Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom, Fedrick Akinrutan; Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji and Olugbon of Orilegbon, Oba Francis Alao.

The Deputy Inpector-General of Police, incharge of  SouthWest, Mr David Folawuyo, Oyo State Commissioner of Police Ngozi Onadeko and other heads of security agencies in Oyo state were also in attendance.

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Director-General of the DSS, Mr. Yusuf Bishi couldn’t make the journey to attend the meeting due to bad weather.

It was expected that the chairman of the South-west governors’ forum Gov. Akeredolu would brief journalists at the end of the meeting.(NAN)
